THE FIRST EVER FORMATION OF THE HUMAN TORCH BLOWS ME AWAY! READ ON!
Exactly 2010 students from six institutions come together to illuminate the mass formation, in conjunction with the lighting of the Olympic Flame in Olympia, Greece – extracted from the article “http://www.samsung.com/sg/news/newsRead.do?news_seq=19861&page=1”
The Samsung Human Torch event is one of the biggest events held this year, and more than 3,000 participants were present to celebrate this magnificent event. Joined by FM DJ Desiree & Shan, Singapore Idol Sezairi, Mr Goh Kee Nguan, the organiser of this event, the executives and organising committee, as well as six different institutions from all over Singapore, it ended with a total blast! I’m really grateful that I was given a chance to witness this event.
Before I even proceed to talk about this event, there’s something I wish to say...
IT’S MY FIRST TIME ATTENDING SUCH EVENT WITH THE OTHER FEATURED BLOGGERS!
You didn’t read wrongly, neither was it a typo error. I was filled with excitement the moment I knew I was selected to run an advertorial for them. However, I do apologise for being late because of the heavy traffic in town area.
Anyway, as soon as I met the other featured bloggers at Brewerkz, I was greeted with a sumptuous meal, a goodie bag, as well as the VIP access for the event. (Now I’m feeling as though I’m the king!) As soon as the briefing was conducted, we made our way into the tentage where the VIP area is. The waiters & waitresses in the VIP area greeted us with a gracious smile, and there were drinks and snacks offered to us. However, no time were wasted because the moment we set foot onto the tentage, we fished out our camera immediately and started snapping.
10 mins later..
It was the start of the event! I was totally blown away by the performance from the different groups of people. Here’s the picture to psych things up.
And now.. The climax of the event: LIGHTING OF THE HUMAN TORCH AT EXACTLY 20:10:00.
You might be pondering, why is it at 20:10:00, and not other timings? Firstly, Singapore was given an opportunity to host the event this year. Secondly, 2010 students from the six different institutions gathered at the open field to commemorate this event together. Thus, the timing 20:10:00.
I have to say, Desiree & Shan did a good job by livening up the atmosphere as soon as the clock strikes 20:10:00! Trust me, the sight of the human torch was so mesmerizing that I kept my eyes locked onto the big screen for as long as the human torch was lit up. (It’s true!)
As soon as the torch was lit up, our very own Singapore Idol, Sezairi performed several songs on stage, as well as dancers showing off their moves. The crowds were crazy!
And it was the end of the event.
All in all, it was truly magnificent! Once again, I thank Samsung & 24seven Communications for giving me this golden opportunity to witness this event.
